Breckenridge Ski Resort opened today and what an opening it was! Not just a celebration of running their lifts again, this is also Brecks 50th Anniversary Year, and today was Veterans Day. Immediately after riding the Gondola to the Peak 8 Base Area we were greeted with trays and trays of ‘Breck-branded’ cupcakes. Breck started their lifts up 15 minutes early, first and second chair were awarded to winners of Breck’s Facebook contest. In the park it was GOING OFF! Skiers and Boarders were lapping the jumps nonstop – it was virtually one big train. After an hour in the park we headed down to the T-Bar – where Breck unkegged a special ’50th Anniversary Brew’ made for them by Budweiser – not exactly your average opening day!
